Description:
Confronting HIV and AIDS at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) is a public health imperative and an opportunity for collaboration and leadership among students and providers. This full-day conference will address barriers to sexual health education and services at HBCU's and how to implement change.
Objectives:
- Describe the urgency of the incidence and prevalence of HIV and STI cases in the Mid-Atlantic states where there is an HBCU present
- Identify barriers to effective HIV/STI testing on their respective campuses
- Describe a status-neutral service delivery model for HIV/STI testing on HBCU campuses from a primary care model
- Describe and/or apply best practices related to HIV/STI testing and prevention implementation HBCU campuses (Provider Breakout)
- Explore approaches to formally and informally inform and inspire others (Student Breakout)
Student travel scholarships are available.
Intended Audience
- Anyone is invited to attend.
Topics
- A variety of the listed topics will be discussed at this event including Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and HIV diagnosis (i.e. HIV testing)
